Yes. I've found I get a lot more exposure there than I do on Facebook. I still get a decent amount here thanks to the Mecha Designers group. The people on Instagram are a different crowd so that's the real bonus. I also tap into the designer toy culture since I make some 3D printed toys as well. I'm sure a guy like you would get as many followers in your first month as I have after 8 months. Another bonus to Instagram is that the people there seem to follow through more with what they say they'll do. Here on DA lots of people say "Oh I would buy a print is you made one" but then none of them actually buy anything. Same with Facebook. But I've found that a lot more people on Instagram will actually follow up and support your efforts by purchasing your stuff. I feel like they actually care more and it's more of a community in some ways even though the interaction is different.
The downside is that Instagram wants you to use your phone instead of a PC. You can still comment form your PC, but you have to post pictures with a phone app. Not a problem for me since I have an i-Phone, but maybe a problem for others. Here's my profile in case you are curious. instagram.com/mechazone
